Soul singer Barry White suffered from a stroke today (May 1, 2003) that impacted the right side of his body and ended his professional career.
Barry White suffered from kidney failure almost a year earlier. When he was hit with the debilitating stroke, it also impaired his speech.
The legendary producer/arranger underwent surgery today, and a catheter was placed into his arm.
Barry White battled various health problems, brought on mostly as the result of years of high blood pressure.
The stroke also forced Barry White to officially retire from his legendary 43-year-career.
