THOUSANDS ATTEND LISA “LEFT EYE” LOPES FUNERAL

Thousands of fans gathered today (May 2, 2002) to pay their final respects to TLC rapper/singer Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

In addition to TLC group members Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, a variety of famous singers were on hand for the funeral.

Stars like Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Bobby Brown, and then Arista CEO Antonio “L.A.” Reid attended the services for Left Eye.

Fans began lining up for the funeral at 4:30 AM in the morning, despite the fact that services did not officially begin until 10:30 AM.

Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was killed on April 25, 2002, when the SUV she was driving in the Honduras flipped, causing fatal head trauma to the famed rapper/singer.

Eight other passengers in the vehicle were injured, but none suffered life threatening injuries.

TLC is the second best selling female group in pop music history, with over 55 million records sold, besting famous groups like The Supremes and Destiny’s Child.

The only group to top TLC is the Spice Girls, who have sold a whopping 80 million records around the world.
