Several members of The Temptations and their extended entourage were robbed after group member Paul Williams funeral today (August 24, 1973).
David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks and The Temptations’ musical director Cornelius Grant were leaving the funeral, when they were robbed.
The group was already in distress over Paul Williams death. The founding Temptations group member had shot himself on August 17, 1973 after an argument with his then-girlfriend.
Over 2,500 people attended Williams’ wake and funeral, including his wife and six children.
Paul Williams is buried in Lincoln Memorial Park in Detroit, Michigan.
The bandits who robbed David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks in Cornelius Grant was never apprehended.
