Singer/composer Barry White married his longtime girlfriend Glodean James today (July 4, 1974).
The pair were married in a private ceremony that took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, that was attended by a small contingent of
family and friends.
Glodean, who was lead singer of the group Love Unlimited, met Barry White in the late sixties.
Love Unlimited was named after the 40-piece orchestra that Barry White put together, to back the female singing trio.
Glodean and her sister Linda James began singing in the choir in San Pedro, California, where they met future group member Diane Taylor.
The trio of female singers met Barry White at a recording session, when he called on them for backing vocals in the studio.
“It was the greatest thing that has ever happened to me,” Barry White said.”I devoted my heart, soul, goals and talent to the girls.”
After a three year incubation period, Barry White signed love unlimited to Uni Records.
The first single was million-seller “Walkin’ in the Rain with the One I Love,” taken from the group’s debut 1972 album From a Girl’s Point of View We Give to You… Love Unlimited.
