Four members of The Delta Rhythm Boys were arrested in Portland, Oregon it was announced today (September 3, 1953).
The Delta Rhythm Boys were performing at Amado’s supper club for an extended series of dates, when the trouble started.
For group members were busted in the whorehouse, while another unidentified member was caught in an after-hours drinking spot.
To make matters worse, members of The Delta Rhythm Boys’ entourage were also busted for speeding around the city.
Just three years later, in 1956, The Delta Rhythm Boys would permanently relocate to Europe, where they performed until 1987.
