The Isley Brothers scored the first #1 R&B album in their career today (November 16, 1974) with the album Live It Up.
Live It Up, which was released in August of 1974, landed at the top of the R&B charts today.
The album was recorded in Los Angeles, at The Power Plant, and features all five of the Isley Brothers, as well as Chris Jasper.
Live It Up spawned the hit single of the same name, as well as minor hits like “Brown Eyed Girl,” and the Isley’s version of Todd Lundgren’s classic “Hello It’s Me.”
Live It Up, which eventually went Gold, helped establish the musical direction The Isley Brothers would take for the rest of the 1970s.
