October 16 1971 The Persuaders topped the R&B Chart with their now classic “It’s A Thin Line Between Love and Hate”. The song addressed the issue of woman standing by her man, until she has her fill and takes action. The song is sung in the first person with the last verse starting “Now I’m laid up in the hospital… bandaged from feet to head.” Despite the songs over the top story line it has managed to remain a staple in the Soul and R&B world even inspiring a 1996 Martin Lawrence film of the same name. The movie would play off of the songs theme, and even includes one of the many “Thin Line Between Love and Hate” remakes by modern crooners H-Town.
