Jackie Wilson Busted Over 1959 Contract, Attempts To Escape Through Window

Singer Jackie Wilson was arrested, after attempting to escape from the Kiel Auditorium in St. Louis, Missouri it was reported today (November 19, 1964).

Police were seeking Jackie Wilson over a 1959 default judgment, in the amount of $2,200.

Jackie Wilson lost a case to the Riviera Club, which claimed the singer had failed to perform at a string of engagements that same year.

Sensing that police might arrest him, Jackie Wilson lept from a second-floor window after the final act of his own show and attempted to escape.

The police arrested him as he was walking away and held him for 24 hours on $3,000 bond.
