Harold Melvin and members of The Blue Notes were arrested in Atlantic City, New Jersey (August 8, 1983.)
Harold Melvin several members of the band were arrested when a maid found a stash of drugs, a gun in their hotel room at Caesars Regency Boardwalk Hotel.
When police raided the room, they found 90 grams of cocaine, 90 grams of methamphetamines and 25 grams of marijuana.
The group was in town for a three-day performance at the popular Harlem Club when the arrest occurred.
Harold Melvin, 44 along with George Prettyman, 35, Rufus Thorne, 35 and Cornell Grant, 25, were all arrested.
Each man was charged with possession of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of methamphetamines and possession of marijuana.
The band members were released on $22,000 bail, while Harold Melvin was released on his own recognizance, after he posted $20,000.
