R&B singer Faith Evans has confirmed that she will play Florence Ballard in an upcoming biopic about legendary Motown girl group, The Supremes.
Ballard, who was the eighth of 13 children, was an original member of the Supremes, along with Diana Ross and Mary Wilson during their peak years.
She could never adjust to the trappings of fame and her battle with alcohol has been well documented in books like Mary Wilson’s “Dream Girls,” and Berry Gordy’s book “To Be Loved.
Ballard, who despite being a member of the world famous group, was forced to raise her three children on welfare in Detroit.
Florence Ballard eventually died of a heart attack at the age of 32, in 1976.
Faith Evans is the former wife of the Notorious B.I.G.
She recently released a new album titled “It’s All About Faith.”
Faith herself has had several brushes with the law, including a recent arrest in Los Angeles in August for driving under the influence of alcohol.
