Legendary singer Etta James died today (January 20, 2012), from complications from leukemia.
She died with with her husband and sons by her side, her manager Lupe De Leon said during an interview shortly after her death.
De Leon “managed” Etta James for over 32 years, he revealed during an interview.
“I worked with Etta for over 32 years, But Etta was completely unmanageable. She didn’t sing anything, anything unless she completely felt it and made it her own,” De Leon explained.
“She did what she wanted to do, she fought, and she called her autobiography ‘Rage to Survive. She said ‘I had to create rage in order to survive in the music business.'”
