Funk group B.T. Express hit #1 on the R&B charts today (October 19, 1974) with the classic single “Do It (‘Til Your Satisfied).
The track, was taken from B.T. Express’ hit 1974 debut album of the same title, which was released for Scepter Records.
B.T. Express was originally formed in Brooklyn and after signing with production company Road Show Records, changed their name to the Brooklyn Trucking Express.
The lineup of B.T. Express included founder Jeff Lane, percussionist Dennis Rowe, flutist Carlos Ward, keyboardist Michael Jones (a.k.a. Kashif) guitarist/vocalist Wesley Hall, vocalist Bill Risbrook, singer Barbara Joyce Lomas, guitarist Rick Thomas and drummer Leslie Ming.
The B.T. Express album produced two #1 hits: “Do It ‘Till You’re Satisfied” and “Express.”
Waxfact: In 1978, keyboardist Michael Jones was brought in to the B.T. Express. Jones would later convert to a Muslim and change his name to Kashif. As Kashif, he experienced success producing records for artists like George Benson, Stacy Lattisaw, Kenny G, Whitney Houston and others.
