Berry Gordy’s Motown imprint announced a distribution deal with Harvey Fuqua and his Harvey Records today (October 20, 1962).
The first record that was distributed under the new deal was Junior Walker and The All-Stars first single “Cleo’s Mood.”
The deal was made between Harvey Fuqua and Barney Ales of Tamla/Motown.
Additionally, Motown announced the debut of the Mel-O-Dy label and future plans to expand the Jazz Workshop imprint.
Berry Gordy purchased the entire Harvey operation in 1963 and inherited Jr. Walker & The All-Stars, Edwin Starr and The Spinners.
